Interesting (and fun) question.
I'd have to give it some more thought but three "homers" who instantly came to mind are John Taylor, Dwight Clark and Alyn Beals.

Great call on Beals, a TD machine.
I also forgot about Gary Clark, who teamed well with Monk. We all know Warren Wells would have stayed great had he not went to jail in the offseason. After joining a rehabilitation group that was more like an abusive cult, he wasnt the same person when he returned to the Raiders. Another underrated player was Sonny Randle of the Cardinals, who I believe led all NFL(not AFL) receivers in TD receptions in the 1960s but not certain on that ?

Beals was very good in the AAFC but mediocre in his 2 years in the NFL.

Understood.
One might say the same of a few AFL stars who are in the Hall of Fame/Hall of (the) Vey Good...
I am not saying he is one of the all-time greats... just worthy of being remembered and perhaps of someday being enshrined in our Hall of the Very Good.
He was the AAFC's all-time leading scorer.
