Best-ever Chicago Bears offense?
I know, slim pickins obviously. I guess it’s a Sid Luckman team that’ll get the title. However, in the modern-era at least, could ’85 actually be tops?

What about 1995? They were eighth in points scored with 392, and Erik Kramer had a great year (3,838 yards passing, 29 TD's, 10 INT's, 93.5 rating). In addition, they had two 1,000 yard WR's in Jeff Graham (82 catches, 4 TD's) and Curtis Conway (62 catches, 12 TD's), and a 1,000 yard rusher in rookie Rashaan Salaam.

Salaam faded quickly after that rookie season, thanks to injuries and marijuana. Years later, he admitted the addiction to pot helped end his career.

I'd go with 1941. With 1985, 1995 and 2013 honorable mention. The '85 team's offense gets overlooked for obvious reasons. They did have a "game manager" type at QB but they could definitely put points on the board. A great season from Payton as well. (of which almost ALL of his seasons were great)

Forgot about them when posting OP; and I shouldn’t have. That Steeler comeback vs them at Soldier, Bears were 6-2 going into that game; I felt right then and there afterward that the rally to the SB - and against Dallas - had begun. Bears were looking to do even better than their playoff year from the year before. Ended up 9-7 as well but no post-season. In ’94 it was their defense (statistically better the year before when they finished 7-9), ’95 pretty much a flip flop. Frustratingly mediocre just the same as was those Wannstedt Bears teams.7DnBrnc53 wrote:What about 1995? For what its worth... Rashan Salaam was the first NFL player I ever noticed that was younger than me.What about 1995? That 1965 Bears team had a good, deep offense. Sayers/Arnett/Bull/Livingston was a formidable 4 headed monster backfield thread. And they managed to throw for over 3,000 yards as a team which was considered impressive back then
That 1987 offense was also quite good. Even though Payton finally got old, the emergence of Neal Anderson helped to offset it. They were quite good at stretching the field with Willie Gault, McKinnon, and Ron Morris.
