The Seahawks once had a receiver named Louis Clark, whose name was evocative of the Pacific Northwest pioneering exploring team.

From 1970-76 the Packers had a starting defensive lineman named Robert Brown. From 1986-92, they had a DIFFERENT Robert Brown as a starting defensve lineman. (I once worked with the latter Robert Brown's son Mike).

In 1971, rookie Jim Plunkett of the New England Patriots became the first quarterback ever to take every single one of his teams' offensive snaps for the whole season.

In 1979, San Diego Charger running back Hank Bauer rushed for just 28 yards for the entire season, but scored eight touchdowns.

The 1980 Minnesota Vikings lost just three fumbles during the entire 16-game regular season. In their playoff loss to Philadelphia, the Vikes matched that total.

Larry Cole of the Cowboys scored four career TDs, all against the rival Washington Redskins. Cole's first three touchdowns came in his first two years, but he had to wait eleven more before getting his final one.

The Vikings of the 1960's-1970's traded away three different quarterbacks - Fran Tarkenton, Bob Berry and Bob Lee - only to later reacquire all three.

Answer - Stallings' Cards, in '88, would be the last team to hand the Niners a road-loss (24 unanswered 2nd-half pts to win, 24-23) before Walsh, then Seifert, would embark the franchise on that 19-game road-win-streak that would finally end on opening week, '91, at the Meadowlands to Handley's G-men on MNF.


As for another tidbit...both the 1962 Lions and the 2010 Packers never trailed by more than 7 points at any time during any game they played during their entire respective campaigns. Are they the only two teams with this claim (don't know the answer)?

when Dan Hampton played

Hampton, who missed 23 games in his career due to severe knee injures, was a positive force on the Bear defense. From 1983-90, in games Hampton missed the Bears only won 33% of the time. In games he played they won 75%. When he was in the lineup the Bears sacked the quarterback 3.6 times a game and only 2.3 times a game without him. When Hampton played the defense gave up an average of 14 points a game and allowed 23 points a game in the games he missed, all seemingly remarkable statistics.
