Butkus was the best player to ever play his position.
Jack Lambert says hi.
So do Joe Schmidt and Bill George.

I'm thinking he'll probably get in before former Colts and 49ers GM Joe Thomas.

I say yes, Joe Thomas is a HoFer if hit by a bus tomorrow, and will probably be "first ballot." 6 first team all pro selections, 9 pro bowls, a cinch for the All-10s team -- that's pretty rarified territory. Lack of postseason appearances won't matter.

The Browns' Joe Thomas is a HOF player, even if his career ended today. As far as first ballot, that depends on who he comes up against. He's not like a Jerry Rice or Barry Sanders. I think he most likely will end up being a first ballot inductee... unless he retires the same year as Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Adrian Peterson.
