Loved 'em! The first football books I ever read. Have recently gone back and rebuilt my collection. Until my father bought me "Instant Replay," these were it!

I checked out and read the Redskins book probably over a dozen times from my elementary school library. Well maybe not read because I can't remember anything that was written but I remember the pictures. A memory I have is that there is a pic of the Skins, after winning the 1942 Championship, celebrating in their locker room. I was convinced, with 100% certainty, that one of the players pictured was Sonny Jurgensen in his "rookie" season. May have to stroll over to e-bay to see if I can find it.

If you saw Jurgensen in a 1942 picture, he was 8 years old.

The younger version of me, call him nicefellow 9 & 10, didn't quite grasp that fact. All I knew was that all the adults said Sonny was old and here was an old picture of Redskins.

That's okay.
The younger of two sons, born June 14, was 9 or 10 before he knew all those flags were not for his birthday.

But, what would you have thought if you saw a painting depicting action aboard the Dartmouth and the Eleanor?
They say Sonny liked his "tea."

These books helped kindle my interest in pro football when I was a kid in the 1970s. It's sad that the series never went beyond that decade.
