Best non-Dallas NFC squad of the '70s?

Post by 74_75_78_79_ »

I'm going to guess '75 Vikes will be most popular pick.

Anyone DISagree?

1979 Redskins, arguably the best team of the post-merger era not to make the post-season.

1975 Rams. A great team that didn't have a QB.

What about the 73 Vikings? Started 9-0. Including wins over Oakland and L.A. Beat Dallas in Dallas rather easily in the conference championship game.

I originally misread the post, I thought it was Best non-Dallas NFC East squad of the 70's. As far as best non-Dallas NFC squad of the 70's, I think it comes down between the 73 and 75 Vikings and the 75 and 76 Rams. I would have to give the edge to the 75 Vikings, who had an unstoppable combo of Tarkenton and Foreman on offense, and their defense was still among the best in the NFL.

How about '70 Cards (through first 11 games/fresh off MNF Cotton Bowl-blowout, that is)??

If Jurgensen hadn't torn his Achilles tendon, I think the 1972 Redskins would win this thread easily, and I'm not sure they wouldn't have been the best NFC team of the '70s, including the Cowboys.
