more trivia of the inane...

Post by Bryan »

During the decade of the 1970's, this team had a 3-game stretch where they allowed 10 total pass completions, intercepted 8 passes...and went 1-2 in those three games. Name the team and the year.

Just a guess, but I'd say the Falcons in 1977.

Correct!

The streak started with the "Hanratty Game" against Pittsburgh...Terry Hanratty was 2 of 15 with 3 INTs, while Joe Gilliam completed 1 pass in a relief role. Steelers won 26-16 thanks in large part to Billy LeFear running into the QB and botching the handoff, leading to JT Thomas' TD return. LeFear did this somewhat regularly with the Browns.

The next game was a 15-10 loss to the Bills, with a typical (at that time) performance from Bills QB Joe Ferguson...1 of 7 for 9 yards with a steady dose of handoffs to OJ and Jim Braxton. The last game was a 7-0 victory in a slush storm versus San Fran. The Niners were led by the immortal Tom Owen, who went 6 of 23 with 5 INTs.

Cullen Bryant, Rams, .... would it go all the way back to Bronko Nagurski?

If it's the Rams, I'd think Tank Younger or somebody like that would be a more appropriate comparison.
