Does anyone know what the NY Giants players were given for winning the NFL Championship in 1934? I know the team won the Ed Thorp Memorial Trophy and I've seen watches, rings, and watch fobs as items awarded players in other years, but don't know what was given in 1934. I just acquired what I'd call a watch fob that was awarded Steve Owen, but wondered if he received something different or in addition to the players.
That's magnificent, Mike. What a piece of history!
The embedded lettering on the laces quarter-panels leads me to believe more than one was produced; otherwise, why not simply engrave all four quarters.
Embedding was likely much cheaper than engraving, say, 30 fobs, so they went that way and then had the individual gifts engraved - maybe with name and number.
I bet a call to the Giants' office would get a quick and proud reply?
Just an opinion...
"It was a different game when I played.
When a player made a good play, he didn't jump up and down.
Those kinds of plays were expected."
