I don't know how common place the blue uniform jinx theory was in the '70's but I would imagine it really caught on with fans in the '80's and '90's when they started having to wear their blue uniforms to RFK every single year to play those good Redskin teams.
The Cowboys changed their road uni's in 1981--right after Vermeil made such a big deal about the Jinx in winning the NFC title game. The jerseys became a navy blue style as opposed to just standard blue.
