2023 season, Week 11 preview

Post by racepug »

DET vs. CHI - N.F.C. North first place vs. N.F.C. North last place. The Lions need to win to keep the surging Vikings at bay.

HOU vs. ARZ - DeMeco Ryans has done a commendable job here in 2023 coaching the team that he used to play for. ARZ won last week on a last-second FG upon Kyler Murray's return to the starting lineup. The Cardinals own the Texans' first round pick in 2024 (for what that's worth).

WAS vs. the NYG - WAS lost on a last-second FG last week in a place where they, historically, rarely lose (now 7 - 2, all time, in Seattle). Los Gigantes, a year after making the playoffs, have lost their starting QB for the season and generally look like a hot mess.

JAX vs. TEN - another "first place in the division" vs. "last place in the division" match-up. The Jaguars look to bounce back after getting thumped by the N.F.C. West-leading 49ers in Week 10 while the Titans look to keep their faint playoff hopes alive in a jumbled A.F.C.

CLE vs. PIT - two starting QBs have been declared "out" for the rest of the season in the A.F.C. North. CLE's Deshaun Watson is one of them, which, despite the Browns' impressive work on "D" this season, doesn't seem to bode well for the Browns' chances of winning the division. For their part the 'Stillers' are the first team in league history to be out-gained in each and every one of their first 9 games and still come out of it with a winning record so it should be an interesting game in NE Ohio today.

MIA vs. the LVR - the Dolphins can't seem to beat anybody with a winning record and yet they lead their division while Da Raaayyyydaaahhs seem to be playing with a joie de vivre that they lacked when Josh McDaniels was H.C. Can the Raiders pull off the upset here in Week 11?

G.B. the LAC - the Packers, for the most part, haven't impressed in this first season post-A.R. while the Chargers. . .well, they're the Chargers. With the game being in WIS I figure it's more or less a toss up as to who wins.

SFO vs. T.B. - the 49ers very emphatically ended a 3-game losing streak in Week 10 and they get another team from FL here in Week 11 (this time a conference opponent and at home).

BUF vs. the NYJ - the 2023 season hasn't played out for either one of these teams the way they'd hoped before the season started. The Jets, despite losing Aaron Rodgers on his very first drive for the team, upset the Bills in Week 1 thanks to some less-than-stellar play by Bills starting QB Josh Allen (and a missed call on what turned out to be the winning punt return in OT). Can they do it again?

the LAR vs. SEA - the Rams lost their last pre-season game in such a way that people speculated that they might be the worst team in the league this season. And then they went to the PNW in Week 1 and throttled the Seahawks (holding them to 0 points and a measly 3 yards in the 2nd half [until a meaningless last play of the game got the Seahawks to 12 yards for the half]). The Seahawks (somehow) managed to sweep the Rams in 2022* but that's been a rarity for them. The Rams won the first-ever meeting between the two teams 45 - 6 (back in the Seahawks' inaugural season) and have lost only twice to the Seahawks in L.A., since.

DEN vs. MIN (Sunday night) - two teams that are on the rise after poor starts to their 2023 seasons. Russell Wilson looked like the Russell Wilson of old in DEN's win over BUF last Monday. Should be a good game in CO tonight.

K.C. vs. PHI (Monday night) - a prime time rematch of the S.B. from February. Need I say more?

*Just read that All-World DL Aaron Donald didn't play against the Seahawks in either game last season. So THAT's how the 'hawks managed to sweep the Rams in 2022.
