Dropping out in the next round of balloting that cut the field to six were Monk, four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Fred Dean, Super Bowl XX MVP Richard Dent, nine-time Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Thomas and Andre Tippett, a five-time Pro Bowl linebacker for New England.

Zach Thomas is a guy who seems to suffer from perception problems, in my opinion. He didn't have the typical physical profile of a MLB, was never very ostentatious in his play, and was not outspoken. Plus, he played with Miami, a team that, for the most part, did not enjoy much success in his time with them. His resume, however, speaks for itself, and over time, more and more voters will remember him and his stellar career. I think it's just a matter of time before he cracks the second round, and eventually, winds up inducted.
