Patriots 1973

Post by JoeZagorski »

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know where I can find the players' jersey numbers for the 1973 New England Patriots? I need the players on that team and the numbers that they wore that year. Thanks.

This is from an Oct '73 Bears-Patriots program.

PFR includes uniform nos. under the "Starters and Roster" tab for each team/season.

Yeah, that would have been the easiest thing...but isn't it a thrill to see it on the printed page circa 1973!?

A talented Patriot roster ... Leon Gray is deserving of the HOF in my opinion. Hard to believe he is not in the HOVG ?

It’s interesting that in the 1980 Playoffs, seven years later, Bolton picked Plunkett and returned the interception for a TD.

I never realizad that in 1973 Bobby Joe Green was still the Bears punter and Bob Pareons only was a tight end.

Either this season or the next, the Patriots, along with the Oilers installed a 34 Defense which was coached by Charlie Sumner, another defensive assistant/coordinator that deserves to make the HOVG and oneday the HOF when the head coaches category is exhausted. Hopefully the HOVG can start the trend of electing great career assistant coaches for the HOF to mirror later. I nominated both Shaughnessy and Ramsey for this upcoming class.
