I think your hate for the Patriots is clouding your mind a little. There is no need to get into conspiracy theories. The Patriots simply took advantage of an opportunity that presented itself and they have a history of taking on troubled players. If Brown and Belichick had been doing what you said they were doing he would have went straight to the Patriots from the Steelers.

AB is simply an immature guy who probably has issues with authority figures.

Brown could NOT have gone straight from Pittsburgh to New England. He was not a free agent; he was traded from Pittsburgh to Oakland. The Patriots inquired about trading for him, but the Steelers didn't want to trade him to a rival.

Chris Mortensen did report this morning that Brown consulted with social media experts to figure out how he could get released from the team.

I'm a little surprised Oakland didn't suspend him for 4 games, and then assess the situation. The suspension would have voided guarantees, including his 2019 salary. If they had cut him after the suspension, it would have been tougher for him to learn a new offense in midseason.

I'm trying to figure out how this works. Did they go thru the morals clauses in his contract to find out what he could do that wouldn't be really scandalous enough to hurt his number of Twitter followers but it would get him released? Is that akin to Brown's allegedly calling Mike Mayock a saltine to his face?

My thoughts exactly. Belichick doesn't shove his authority down your throat, but he’s not a player’s coach, either, so I expect Brown will do better in New England.

While George Allen didn't come close to Belichick's success, he was another coach who would basically take any talented player, regardless of reputation, if they xould still play. That said, even he had limits when it came to putting up with Brown-level BS. There's a bit of irony that Brown couldn't fit in with Oakland, since they also used to be a halfway house for any talented head case. Of course, Al Davis has been gone for years...

Antonio Brown can win a hundred super bowls and he'll still be a weasel with no class. Any "man" that throws furniture from an upper floor apartment, jeopardizing the lives of those below him is not worthy of anything but scorn. I never want to see a player injured but I wouldn't mind seeing this ass get cold cocked into the middle of next year. I also smell a rat in this process. Perhaps the networks should investigate what might be some real collusion. I'm always suspicious of the machinations of those obsessed with ego, money or winning.

So this was a calculated strategy that required signing w/ Oakland, then performing a full on Klinger (minus the dresses) in order to end up w/ Belichick? I'll be damned! That's quite a stunt.

And it just got worse. Could be now be suspended due to the sexual assault charge. What an absolute mess. As to it being orchestrated, I'm reminded of Baboons Razor, Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Well AB has now officially been cut by the Patriots. Is this potentially the end of his NFL career or do you think another team will potentially give him a chance? In anycase I think this pretty much ends any theories that this was all a Belichick plot. AB is just a mess through and through. When the Patriots aren't willing to put up with you then that doesn't bold well for any other team being willing to put up with you.

He's thru for 2019, at least. He's also toxic, which means he won't be popping up on ESPN or NFL Network or anywhere, nor will he be doing any endorsements or be able to weasel his way into a reality TV show of some kind to promote himself. By next season, perhaps he will have grown up some (there's always a chance) and by then he will be available at a much cheaper salary, and somebody will probably give Brown a chance in training camp, on the condition that as soon as he pulls some stupid behavior or he finds himself involved in another lawsuit, he's gone.

I am reminded of a scene at the very end of the outstanding late 50's film "A Face in the Crowd" (a movie I highly recommend) where a certain character who was a very big TV star has just done something that has ruined his career disastrously, and another character points out to him (and I'm paraphrasing) that his career really isn't over, that he'll be back one day, but it won't be quite the same as it was. A year or two down the line, they'll let him back on a smaller network, for a lot less money, and the ratings won't be very high anymore because most people will remember what happened, and by the time he comes back, he'll be replaced by other people who are the hot new thing, and he's basically going to be a has been. That's pretty much where Antonio Brown is going to be.
