The 1972 Raiders might have made this group, since they would have hosted the Dolphins in the AFC Championship if not for a certain deflection. Their home record from 1967-72 was 40-5-2, with one of those losses in the 1969 AFL title game.

The 1975 Vikings were another team knocked out by a relative fluke.

The 1977 Raiders might have made for a more interesting SB XII against the Cowboys--if not for the Lytle fumble.

I think the 73 Rams and 76 Patriots are too high, I think the 76 or 77 Colts would be a better team on the list. I might take the 75 Rams over the 73 Rams. I might also consider the 1988 Bengals over the 1981 Bengals, and would probably have to find a place for the 1984 Dolphins and 2001 Rams on the list.

My list might look a little something like this:

10 - 1978 Cowboys
9 - 1986 Bears
8 - 2015 Panthers
7 - 1984 Dolphins
6 - 1983 Redskins
5 - 1967 Rams
4 - 2001 Rams
3 - 1976 Steelers
2 - 1968 Colts
1 - 2007 Partiots

I would put the 1998 Minnesota Vikings on the mix. Also the 1980 San Diego Chargers and Atlanta Falcons.

'81 Bengals? So many teams of same caliber that aren't, nor should be with all due respect, on this list. Great, gritty team but noticeably a lesser team than the very team that beat them in SBXVI as well as walloping them at Riverfront, 21-3, during regular season.

I agree with BD, Rupert, and Teo respectively on at least mentioning '72 & '77 Raiders, '78 Cowboys, '98 Vikings and '01 Rams. '15 Panthers? Why not? How about '87 & '90 Niners, '91 Redskins, '96 Broncos, '97 Packers, '00 Titans? If not so post-Jimmy sloppy, '94 Cowboys could be worth a mention. '95 Niners as well.

Not just saying this, but '76 Steelers, to me, should be #1. Simply look at those final scores after that 1-4 start. Crushing Colts at Baltimore. Scary stuff! Noticeably more impressive than '85 Bears. Maybe 13-1 Raiders still beat them with Franco & Rocky as they did opening day, but the fact that they didn't play along with them being so much better by then than they were in September further strengthens they being #1 on this list.

My personal #3 thru #10 ('07 Pats #2)? Too tough. Won't even bother.
