Re: So, what's the purpose of this new USFL?

I sure hope attendance isn't a big deal (and I'm guessing it's not since all games are in the same city) but there's next to no one in the stadium for the 2nd game on Easter Sunday. I would believe the casual TV viewer might tune in see the nearly empty stadium and turn to other programming.

Re: So, what's the purpose of this new USFL?

So now I'm understanding this a bit better. Although Fox and NBC are showing games plus on their sister networks. I think the Spring League may have been on CBS Sports Network maybe?

So, what's the purpose of this new USFL?

I know the original back in the 80s went after some known college players as well as NFL free agents, but this one doesn't seem to be resembling that I would guess because of an inability to compete with salaries? Plus, what's the deal with all games being in Birmingham when all the teams represent ...

Re: '74 Birmingham Americans VS '84 Philadelphia Stars

Really good observatlons there Zero26! As much as I wish the USFL would've survived, the ownership group made some bad decisions, especially in expansion which wasn't needed. When teams started merging I knew they were in trouble. Wasn't it Blitz/Wranglers and Panthers/Invaders? They could have had ...

RIP Charley Taylor

#42. Started out as a RB but became a great WR. Always put up the touchdown signal whenever he got into the end zone.

Re: Tanking on purpose?

I agree that Jakson is awful. Just watch a couple of those hard knocks episodes to see for yourself. Grambling State will drop off the map with him in charge!!!

I know the rule has been in high school football for years. Not sure about college.

Re: Damon Allen vs. Marcus Allen

I've had interest in the CFL since the early 1970s when street & smith's would have brief previews of each team in the back of their preseason annuals. While there is certainly an argument for each of the names mentioned i'd rank them Flutie, Allen, Jackson, Moon, Etchevery, Cavillo, Lancaster, ...

1971 NE Pats backup QB?

I happened to watch the NFL Films Game of the Week for the first week of the 1971 season. In it, the narrator said Plunkett was supposed to start as the backup to Kapp but ended up being the starter when Kapp bailed. So, in checking on the Pats' '71 roster from two online sources Plunkett was the on...
