Re: STEELERS/EAGLES History

In one of the greatest games in regular season history, the 0-6 Steelers defeated the 0-6 Eagles 6-3 on October 27 1968 in the legendary OJ Bowl. At the time it appeared the losing team would have the best chance to finish with the number one pick in the draft, expected to be USC running back O.J. S...

Re: Musings on 2022 season, Week 3

The NFL's only concern is profit. If the TNF package is profitable it will remain.

Re: Oldest franchise

Re: Straight-on kicking

Ah, the legendary Booth Lusteg. He would prepare on the sideline by kicking Styrofoam cups. His two field goals in the Steelers 6-3 1968 O.J. Bowl victory over the Eagles ruined any chance of Pittsburgh drafting Simpson. Perhaps a blessing, now that I think about it.

Re: College realignment

Pitt alumnus here. They need to go back to playing Penn State, WVU, and Notre Dame every year. Those were the good old days. "Hail to Pitt!" I've heard the ACC is considering an alliance with the Big 12. If the SEC expands the ACC can kiss goodbye Clemson, Florida State and Miami, Fla. The...

Re: College realignment

I heard a radio sports talk show host say he heard from "reliable sources" the Big Ten and the SEC intend to expand to 20 team conferences consisting of two ten team divisions. He speculated that Notre Dame would eventually have to choose a conference. Personally, I find the college game t...

Re: The best ever pair of Thanksgiving Day games?

A bit off topic but I loved the early games of 1968-1969. The '68 game was played in a rainstorm and the '69 game in the snow. Those were the good old days.
