Re: Least-spectacular NFLCG-winning QB, '32-thru-'65?

About Keith Molesworth: Over his career he threw 18 TD passes and 19 interceptions. Granted he didn't throw all that much, but for the 1930s that ratio is VERY impressive Yes, I agree with that... 18 to 19 for 1932 IS very good. Curly Lambeau, first man (known) to have thrown for 1000 yards in a se...

Re: Least-spectacular NFLCG-winning QB, '32-thru-'65?

Just took a quick peek at Pro Football Reference and in 1932 the Bears QB was listed as Keith Molesworth (later to be the 1st HC of the Baltimore Colts.) He had some pretty uninspiring statistics. In 1933 Carl Brumbaugh was listed as the Bears QB and it was the same case. Most of the other early pas...

Re: Singular greatest moment in NFL history

An early "singular moment" would be the signing of Red Grange, I would think. If you're talking about on-field or captured on film it might be difficult to separate out a single instance (imo). Signing of Joe Namath was another huge moment in terms of National publicity. It may have been ...

Re: Top 10 Super Bowls

I thought Super Bowl V for the 1970 season's Championship, was a entertaining game, "Blunder Bowl, Stupor Bowl" or ever else you want to say about it. I am also surprised no one has mentioned (as yet) the Patriots rally from 25 down to the Atlanta Falcons, to win the game. I used to be som...

Re: 1964 St Louis Cardinals-Better than the Browns

I bet Cardinal WR Billy Gambrell will never forget the 1964 season's NFL Playoff Bowl (matching the 2 Division runners-up). From Wikipedia: Gambrell won the Most Valuable Player award in the Playoff Bowl on January 3,1965 after he caught 6 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals 24-...

Re: Singular greatest moment in NFL history

The kickoff to the 1933 NFL Championship game ... Finally, separate divisional leaders would square off for a postseason game for the world championship ... The SB culminated ... The 1932 NFL Championship Game (Technically a regular season game,) but I read somewhere that it inspired George Preston...

Lending a Player to Another Team For a Specified Time

I know QB Jacky Lee was loaned out in 1963 from the Houston Oilers to the Denver Broncos. He played 1964-65 seasons in Denver, then was returned to Houston. Wikipedia states that he was the only player ever to be "lend-leased" to another team. I recall reading somewhere (wish I could cite ...

Re: Singular greatest moment in NFL history

1958 OT Title Game Nationally televised. Baltimore Colts 23-17 OT win over New York Giants. Signaled start of NFL's rise to prominence over baseball which probably culminated with the aforementioned NY Jets victory over the Colts (some of the same players on Colts too!) that propelled football into ...
