Re: The Holy Roller

I doubt Stabler was trying to throw the ball away. It was 4th down. A sack or an incomplete pass both result in turnover on downs. I agree about Casper, though. He was likely just trying to,scoop up the ball but couldn't get a clean grip on it. No sense falling on the ball until he was in the end zo...

Re: Contributors in the PFHOF next year

Sabol and George Young are the only worthy HOF picks from that list.

Re: Greatest passing day in Pro Football history?

When you curve the performances, accounting for the different eras, Tittle's game is a clear cut #1. If you just take the numbers at face value, I still give Tittle a very slight edge.

Re: TOP QBs of TODAY

He is the only QB to have multiple 500 yard games. If you had told that to someone during his rookie year, you would have gotten some strange looks.

Re: 1950's Detroit Lions

This thread took an interesting turn. I see JohnH's point. The only thing I disagree with is including the Steelers team from the 1970's to the present day. The Steelers had a definite dropoff during the final 12 years of Chuck Noll's regime. That's too long a period to call it a dynasty. That's why...

I liked their post 1996 uni's. Looked like a nice marriage of the old 9ers and Raiders uniform. Why they got rid of it...who knows.
I think their 1996-2013 unis were one of the best in the league.
The Bucs changed their uniforms in 1997. 1996 was the last year of the creamsicles.

Re: 300 + 100

Cam Newton came close last week. He finished with 284 yards. Of course, it took 5 quarters to do that.

Re: Worst ending to a career

I mentioned Bruce on one of the earlier posts. I think he was actually pancaked on his very last play. Hard to get much worse than that, beyond extraordinary events.

Thurman Thomas was injured in midseason; that's why he didn't dress for the playoffs.

Re: Reconciling the whole Browns/Ravens issue

Looking at the lineups, it appears that about 26 of 1995's Browns didn't become 1996 Ravens. Five starters on offense and seven of the 11 defensive starters for the '95 Browns didn't start for the Ravens in '96, and punter Greg Montgomery and returner Jermaine Lewis didn't go to Baltimore. Jermaine...
