Re: Chiefs at Raiders-Detail on 1969 Title

In the 1972 season opener against the Steelers, Madden started Stabler, who threw three early interceptions, and then went to Blanda before finally turning to Lamonica. The Mad Bomber lived up to his nickname, going 8 of 10 for 172 yards, and led the Raiders to three 4th quarter TD’s, two of them on...

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Games

Campbell made the correct call in kicking the FG at the end of the first half and then reversed himself and passed up the two obvious FG opportunities in the second half. One would have negated SF’s early third quarter FG to again make it a three score game and the second would have tied the game at...

Re: What happened to Pro Football Archives?

This is very disappointing news. PFA was invaluable for CFL season stats. I hope that the information will be available again in the very near future.

Re: Bob Berry

I liked Berry. He was a short guy who didn’t have a strong arm but he was smart, accurate and mobile. It was unfortunate for him to be stuck behind Sir Francis in Minnesota and that NVB didn’t stick with him in Atlanta. The Falcons’ trade of Berry for Bob Lee in 1973 looked pretty good for one seaso...

Re: Jimmy G, most fragile QB ever?

Buck Pierce, who to be fair played through a ton of injuries, which made it to where he had both the missed games because he was frequently injured but also was seemingly always injured even when he was actually playing. Lot of CFL QBs like that in the 21st century, but he always stood out to me in...

Re: Since 1970 only 2 teams allowed fewer yards in 1st 5 games than Browns

The Browns have allowed 200.4 yards per game which is great, all things considered.
The 1969 and 70 Vikings gave up 197.25 yards per game over the course of two full seasons.

Re: 70 Points in a Game

Why John? McDaniel already ran up the score ... might has well have been the first team to score 77 points, they had what, 6-8 minutes left in the game to do it? I remember reading one time where Bob Lilly would complain about the Cowboys offense running up scores in some games, then not scoring en...

Re: 70 Points in a Game

My only thought is that this Mike McDaniel seems like one of those guys, who think the first 90 years of the NFL never happened and PFF created the Big Bang. Not an iota of respect or admiration for football history in him. I'm certain all of us here would've kicked the field goal. Not one of us!!!...

Re: 2023 Predictions

Jurgensen came back from a torn Achilles when he was 39 and played two more seasons. He didn’t play as much as Kilmer but he played a substantial amount in both seasons and actually led the NFC in passer rating in 74.
