Re: Roy Jefferson questions
...Looking back it is amazing how much animosity there was by teams to player reps during the era, especially in baseball where a very high percentage of them were traded. His career just seemed to tail off after that, I assume because of injuries. Spoken like someone who has never been involved in...

Cleveland has so many needs, I can't imagine why they'd think taking two QBs in the first round is a good idea.

Re: Roy Jefferson questions
Thanks for the replies! I had heard that Jefferson was a bit of a flake, but George Allen was known to keep those type of guys and that must be why he finished out his career in Washington. Two other notes about this situation which haven't come up yet. First, Jefferson went on record saying he did...

Re: 5 best, and 5 worst, defending-SB champs
The worst team IMO would be the 1982 Niners. After playing terribly all year, including losing a game to a Broncos team that would win one other game that season, the Niners were 3-5 heading into the last game but still had a chance to make the postseason. All they had to do was win a home game agai...

Re: 1985 Chargers
Yes, the AFC wasn't that difficult in 1985, and with a better defense, San Diego could have done some real damage in the postseason. Dan Fouts and company were potent in the air, and while the running game was without Chuck Muncie, multi-purpose weapons like Lionel James and Gary Anderson could mov...

Re: 1985 Chargers
Could have been a stronger last stand for the Coryell era (or prolonged it). They lost @Houston on a last second FG, @Denver (in OT) on a blocked FG return (after Denver blocked the first one and ran it back for a TD before being nullified by penalty), and @Minnesota on a 26-TD pass from Tommy Kram...

Re: Best team so far this decade
Yes, reviving another old post. Pats having won another Lombardi since, along with making it to yet another SB this past year (4 appearances altogether), ought to keep their so-far #1 status further solidified. Seattle and Denver, each at two SBs with one win each, still a solid #3 and #4 respectiv...

Re: Notable Steelers/Broncos games
For me it's the 1997 AFCCG where Denver won in Pittsburgh. Crushing defeat for the Steelers as they were once again one step from the SB. I'll also add the 2015 AFC Divisional Round where the Steelers lost, 23-16. Pitt was in the game from the start and led nearly throughout, until Denver took the ...

Re: Notable Steelers/Broncos games
When thinking of Steelers’ biggest rivalry, you may think of other teams before you think Denver. Same with if you think of Broncos’ biggest rivalry; you won’t think Pittsburgh first. However starting with their first ever meeting, a close 13-10 Denver win at home Week #3 in ’70, and ending with an...

Re: Guess what we have a new league with a CBS contract.
I don't think any new league(or the NFL for that matter), should be eliminating conventional kickoffs. Yes, injuries occur on kickoffs, but players also get hurt in practice. Violent collisions will always be part of the essence of the sport, and there are other alternatives to make the game safer. ...
