Re: Ed Sabol has passed

Sad news, but he did live a long and productive life, and I am certainly grateful for what he gave us fans. Also, I'm glad that he (unlike Steve) was alive for his induction into Canton.

Re: 1960's All-Decade Team

To be honest, I hadn't given Barnes serious consideration for this team, even knowing that he was a good player. Yeah, perhaps he would be deserving of a CB spot, although I wouldn't sacrifice Cornell Green (my choice for a fourth corner) to put him on there, so maybe they can both be on the team. J...

Re: 1960's All-Decade Team

Erich Barnes, I agree, should be on this team. Off topic: Barnes, Lester Hayes, Lemar Parrish and Louis Wright are all more deserving as corners over Dick LeBeau in the HOF, in my opinion. Also, I think they are better choices (arguably) than Emmitt Thomas for Canton. Seconded. All four of those gu...

Re: 1960's All-Decade Team

At Pro Football Reference they also made their team, some interesting names: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/awards/pfr_all_decade_1960.htm I like Fran Tarkenton, he would get my nod as 3rd QB behind Starr and Unitas. Interesting. I actually have Tarkenton pencilled in as a replacement for Ke...

Re: Kurt Warner first ballot or not?

I'm fine with Warner not going in on first ballot. Given the strange shape of his career, I don't think he deserved that. As I wrote in another thread, I can see his induction being pushed back to 2017 with Favre on the ballot next year. I'd be surprised if he got in later than that.

1960's All-Decade Team

I did the 1950's entry in this series some time ago, so this one was definitely due. Here's the 1960's team, as chosen by the Hall voters. QB: Sonny Jurgensen, Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas HB: John David Crow, Paul Hornung, Leroy Kelly, Gale Sayers FB: Jim Brown, Jim Taylor Split End: Del Shofner, Char...

Re: At what point will we run out of "contributers"?

Yeah, to me, the category really should include head (and probably assistant) coaches going forward, and after the established schedule finishes in a few years, you could have one nominee in the category per year. There are several former head coaches besides Dungy (who probably will be inducted as ...

Re: 2016: Favre a lock, Terrell Owens will be put in line

There have been two times in recent years where two QBs went together: in 2004 Dan Marino and Steve Young, and in 2006 Troy Aikman and Warren Moon. Whoops, yeah, was forgetting about those two classes (Marino and Young were '05, btw). However, I still think it's somewhat unlikely that these guys go...

Re: NFL 2015 Pro Football HOF Predictionsby Eric Golub

You're forgetting about one Troy Polamalu. Hahaha, yes, of course, how could I forget one of the best safeties of this era of football? His induction will be somewhere between Mawae's and Ngata's, most likely. Any word on whether he's calling it quits this offseason, or is he planning to play one m...
