Re: Senior Nominees

Yes, the process certainly needs major improvement. Those issues aside, Stanfel, in my opinion, should have gotten in when he was last nominated a few years ago. At least the selectors have a chance to acknowledge their previous mistake and do him justice, and I sure hope that they do. It happened f...

Re: "Three Studs on the O-Line" article

I believe that the only OL after the merger with at least three players who went to multiple Pro Bowls, but none inducted to the HOF are the Air Coryell's San Diego Chargers, with Russ Washington, Ed White and Doug Wilkerson, and the pre-Larry Allen Dallas Cowboys, with Nate Newton, Mark Tuinei, Ma...

Re: Patrick Willis to retire

Yep, to me, no question Willis is a HOF player. I do kind of wonder, though, if his decision is really permanent, or whether he might return in 2016 after a year off or something like that. I can see that happening.

Hierarchy of All-Pro Teams?

I am wondering what all of your opinions are regarding the prestige of various All-Pro teams, and whether there's some way you'd rank them. Currently, I consider teams from news organizations like AP, UPI, Pro Football Writers, NEA, etc. to carry more weight than teams named by individual publicatio...

Re: Rice at it again

John, interesting post. I had no idea that Simmons was that good a run defender. Is he perhaps more borderline great than a lot of people think, as well? Clyde Simmons, IMO, is a HOVG player. Yeah, that squares with the impression of him I've had for some time: Good to Very Good level overall. I do...

Re: AFL All-Time Team

While we're on the subject of the AFL, I'm curious to know people's opinions of the Canton-worthiness of players on this team (or potential replacements for them) who aren't currently in. Jim Tyrer, Winston Hill, Ed Budde, Walt Sweeney, and Johnny Robinson are all very qualified, in my opinion, and ...

Re: Rice at it again

No, Rice was not better than Strahan. Well, as a pure pass rusher, maybe, but as an all-around d-end, absolutely not. I have long wondered about Rice's hall chances, though, and I think he may actually be borderline. One thing that really strikes you, when looking at his numbers, is how consistently...

Re: 1960's All-Decade Team

John, it's really cool that you're working on those teams. Would be very interested to see what you come up with.
