Re: 2020 HOF Class
Atwater and Butler were both selected as the first-team safeties for the 1990s All Decade team. As we know there has been a big push by the PFHOF voters to get the All Decade guys in. Butler is now the only one of 22 first-team selections on the 1990s All Decade team, offense or defense, not in Can...

Re: 2020 HOF Class
I do not have any issue with the five elected to Canton. I think any of the three linemen finalists - Hutchinson, Faneca, Boselli - could have been in. Since Hutchinson is in, it's only a matter of time until the other two are in. I bet one is in next year. Yeah, and if I had to put money on it, I ...

Chiefs Win Super Bowl LIV
Not the most exciting game up until the 4th quarter. Great performance in said quarter by KC.
Andy Reid is a HOF coach now, I believe.
Thoughts?

Re: Longtime starters with no Pro Bowl/All-Pro/All-Conferenc
Somebody mentioned Jeff Bostic, but he doesn't belong here. He had a Pro Bowl and All-Pro in '83. Two guys who do, though: Toomer's colleague from SB XLII, Plaxico Burress, and Green Bay tackle Mark Tauscher, who I remember being praised for his play by many writers, but somehow failed to ever recei...

Re: Rupert Patrick
Admittedly, I didn't know Rupert well, but he seemed like a good guy, and always contributed a ton to these forums. Regards to his family. May he rest in peace.

Re: Sorry, but they screwed the pooch
Covert was 1st team all-NFC in 1987, not first team all-pro. His only first team all-pro seasons were 1985 and 1986. By George, you're right! And it turns out there's a bit of a problem: it's not particularly easy to see this info on pro-football-reference anymore. I remember when a player's all-pr...

Re: Sorry, but they screwed the pooch
Covert played 6 full seasons. 1987 and 1988 he played 9 games. 2x Pro Bowler. 2 time all pro. That's good. That's not enough for the Hall of Fame. To be fair to Covert, he actually had three first-team all-pros plus one second-team selection, which is not bad. One problem for him, of course, is the...

Re: Sorry, but they screwed the pooch
Dilweg, Lewellen, Emerson, and Wistert, as well as a number of others like Riley Matheson, Ken Kavanaugh, Jim Benton, and Bruno Banducci, all deserve more discussion than they’ve received to this point. Seems like the hall really needed to get more of these guys in within its first two decades of e...

Re: Sorry, but they screwed the pooch
Still an appallingly low number of enshrinees from the league’s first three decades. I think they need to have a special series of classes where they focus on old timers as senior nominees, like they did for the contributors the last few years. Or, perhaps they need a subcommittee devoted to that er...

Re: Class of 2020 will be announced next Wed
Can't agree with Harold Carmichael. And I liked him as a player. He played in an era where it was a heck of a lot harder to be a receiver than it is now because secondaries were allowed to actually play defense. But he only caught more than 60 passes twice. He was good to very good for a long time....
