Re: Your Team's Worst Defeat
The one Buccaneer game I can never watch again is the 1999 NFC Championship loss to the Rams. I don't blame the referees (anymore!!!!!!), because there is no guarantee the Bucs score even if Bert Emanuel's catch is ruled a catch. It's just the pain of how close the Bucs came to completely shutting d...

Re: Great matchups we missed in '82 & '87
The San Francisco 49ers were scheduled to come to Tampa Bay in 1982 (I believe on a Monday night). This would have been the Niners first trip to the "other" Bay Area. Defending World Champs, Tampa Bay's tenacious D, Joe Montana, Lee Roy Selmon, Frank, Howard and Dandy Don...the last season...

http://cdn3.volusion.com/tfqck.ehpdz/v/vspfiles/photos/19863596-2.jpg That is Mike Rae of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Baker is throttling. Rae did play for the Bucs in 1980 but was released during the season and didn't play in the Detroit game at the Silverdome. I wonder if this photo is from the 1978...

Re: Pontiac Silverdome today
It is easy for those of us who grew up in the late 70s and 80s to be nostalgic for stadiums such as the Silverdome. While not a particularly attractive stadium compared to today, it represents a time and place where the games and surrounding atmosphere were much simpler. It doesn't get much more Spa...

In 1972 Bill Peterson took over the Houston Oilers following a solid tenure at Florida State and a very brief stop at Rice. Just nineteen games later Peterson was fired after going 1-18 and never had a head coaching job again. That's a train wreck worthy of an NTSB investigation.

Re: Chances the Raiders go 0-16
If they do finish this season 0-16, that will be 22 consecutive losses. That is a typical Oakland 0-4 start from tying the 1976-1977 Tampa Bay Buccaneers mark of 26 consecutive losses. If that were to happen would this current edition of the Raiders be considered worst team of all time? This is an e...

Re: '79 Chiefs/Bucs flipflop
Even though the NFL was geographically challenged from the 1970s-2000s (Atlanta and New Orleans in the West, St. Louis in the East), had the Bucs been flipped to the AFC they would have more than likely still gone to the Central Division. The Bucs were in the NFC Central from a marketing standpoint....
