Re: 1974 Dallas Cowboys

It was mostly little things. They had a big edge in yardage gained. #1 offense in yardage. But. They changed out both their kicking and punting specialists during the year. Not great. Staubach got sacked a lot, too many INT and not enough TD passes. Despite Pearson having a great year, as others poi...

Re: Top, and Worst, Ten teams of the 14-game era, '61-thru-'77?

1973 Rams were not that good IMO for being 12-2. Only played 2 playoff teams. Lost to Vikings and beat Cowboys. Split with the 9-5 Falcons. Avoided all of the good AFC teams. Except for McCutcheon, every starter started all 14 games. So no adversity there. Didn't pass all that much. Apparently Hadl ...

Re: 1974 Dallas Cowboys

The only year in the 70s DAL missed the playoffs and the only time from 1966-1983 Their two most well known games in 74: one they won (Clint Longley on Thanksgiving), one they lost (First time ever they played Oakland, only time we saw Landry vs Madden) Made SB 10 a year later But in 1974…… what we...

I would pick him over Antwine, who is on the ballot.

Brooks had great sack totals. But are people burned out on Rams defensive line?
Antwine was inducted to the HOVG last year in 2023.
No, he came seven votes short.

Re: More fodder. . .

Quarterbacks are the most important players and there aren't 32 good ones, obviously. You'd want to protect them, too. It's just good business. This insistence on bloodlust from longtime fans just baffles me. What, not enough people get decapitated anymore for your liking? Not enough guys unable to...

Re: 2023/24 Super Bowl

I long ago came to the conclusion that, more often than not, the best team doesn't win the championship. Too many variables--weather, bad calls, lucky bounce, playoff seeding, injuries, etc.---that are out of a team's control and cancel out the opponent's superior talent. I don't think some of the ...

He's not legendary, he's merely the best of a watered down era.
Yeah, he just happens to be winning Super Bowls. While other teams are losing. It's all just a roll of the dice that it keeps coming up this way.

Give it up.

Re: JOE NAMATH vs LEN DAWSON

Your right Richard, the Jets defense was outstanding, but only from 1968-69. The front seven was very good from 1966 onward but their secondary was bad, thats why they signed the black-balled, Johnny Sample, one of the best moves Weeb Ewbank ever made. The Jets got lucky getting Jim Hudson for thei...
