Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

1) I still don't love the 2 point conversion. I understand why it exists, and I wasn't resisting it's arrival in 1994...to me it just wasn't necessary. It was fine that a 16 point lead was something that you should not be able to make up with just two touchdowns and 2 cheap "easter egg" pl...

Re: Interesting decision by Belichick in 1994

Even in 1994 a 42 yard field goal would have been very makeable. However.... Maybe this was going through Hoodie's head.... 1994 was the first year of the 2 point conversion. Maybe he was thinking if he misses the FG, the Colts then get great field position, drive for a TD, and go for 2 for the win...

Interesting decision by Belichick in 1994

Browns @ Colts from the RCA Dome. Week 4 of the 1994 season Browns lead Indy 21-14 and are trying to put the game away. On a 3rd and 7 from the Colts 27, Testaverde hands to Byner who goes for 2 yards. Colts are out of time outs and Cleveland lets the clock bleed down to 49 seconds and take a time o...

Re: NFL broadcast preservation status

For collectors/traders, all of these broadcasted games are on oldtimesports.net Took a while but that site did come up. I remember one (maybe it was this one) from years ago that was similar. I once had a guy from which I acquired a bunch of 70s and early 80s games. I tried emailing him but never h...

Maybe a bit of a homer pick for TE's but...how about Mickey Shuler?

Wesley Walls perhaps?

Re: Weakest Dolphin playoff team?

In 2008, the Jets started out 8-3 before Brett Favre hurt his shoulder, I believe. They went into a slump that helped Miami win the division. Had Favre stayed healthy and led them to the division title, would he have went to Minnesota? I'm 50/50 on that...but leaning no. The Jets defense with a 200...

Re: Weakest Dolphin playoff team?

I remember being so begrudgingly impressed with that 11-5 2008 club, sneaking away a division from the Jets. The 1 season turnaround they got was remarkable...and yes the NFL is the ultimate quick turnaround league but still, 1-15 to 11-5 and a division. They used the wildcat effectively. Kept defen...

Re: Giants doing top 100 players ... have released 91-100

As a Jets fan I have weirdly spent most of my life defending Eli Manning to other Giants fans and telling them "You don't know how good you have it!!!" :D

I absolutely loved that and it made so much sense. Week 1 you can enjoy the 1st Sunday of football and not have to go into work the next day

Re: The most 'boring' Super Bowl ever, IYO?

I'd say Super Bowl VIII. I can't remember a single play from that Super Bowl. Many of the other snoozers like XXXV or 50 or VI have that one play that sticks out. I remember absolutely nothing from VIII except for one moment when Bart Starr and Pat Summerall answered Ray Scott with the same answer ...
