Re: Senior Nominees
I'll repeat part of a post I made a week ago. Former Raider defensive tackle Tom Keating said in 1973 or 1974: "The Raiders put out for Stabler in a way they never quite did for Lamonica." It's been a long time since I read it but I recall Jack Tatum in his book, "They Call Me Assass...

Re: Senior Nominees
How would you compare the careers of Stabler and Lamonica? It seems to me that Lamonica's career is similar to Stabler's had Stabler retired after the 1979 season. Glad someone brought up Lamonica because he's regularly overlooked. His regular season W-L percentage is higher than Tom Brady's. Sure,...

My post was also deleted. I had responded that various newspaper accounts from the day mention the Dons outdrawing the Rams.Reaser wrote:
Didn't the Dons outdraw the Rams in 2 of the 4 seasons?

If active coaches are allowed, Belichick should be the no-brainer. But I'll take Tom Coughlin, the ultimate big-game coach. When and if he gets there, he wins them. Has done it at the college and pro level.

Re: well, they cannot plan things out
I agree. Dying should not change your worthiness for consideration. I also agree. Not a fan of the Hall of Fame or players' impact to begin with, but if a person is deemed worthy of being there it seems very backwards to wait until the person is no longer around to enjoy the honor before recognizin...

Mostly he's just trolling, I think. Well, he mostly is. Chase is considered a blogger for USA Today, not a writer. I know that sounds funny since blogging involves writing. Apparently, he's one of the most successful AND despised bloggers on the web, and has had to either hide his address or move d...

I vote Fred Dryer's block on Dan Dierdorf as Jack Youngblood retuned a Jim Hart pass 47 yards for a score in the 1975 NFC divisional playoffs. I think you can see that play on YouTube. Devastating.

Re: Frank Gifford
He was indeed quite the guy. Mr. Manhattan before Joe Namath. He had the world by the tail most of his life, the type of success story only America could produce. Even in his announcing days, when his on-air compatriots perhaps surpassed him in polish and technical chops, he just oozed star power, g...

Had never heard of this network/show. Perhaps because, surprisingly, it doesn't air in the Minneapolis area.
Sounds interesting.

Not to get all 1960's on everyone, but where have you gone Dr. Z? Great writer. The vacuum left by his professional absence makes it easy to forget that the man is still With us. They've replaced him with a business and politics columnist. Z put his *ss on the line every week. Not just straight up, ...
