Re: Weakest Dolphin playoff team?

At least the 2008 team won 11 games. The 1997 team was weak as well, with defense and special teams getting them into the postseason, the worst playoff team of Marino's career. Going into a playoff game, the Dolphins had Skylar Thompson leading them in 2022, not exactly installing confidence in the ...

Re: 1988 49ers vs 2023 Chiefs

Esiason had a bad arm during the postseason that affected him. I don't believe the Bengals would have beaten the Vikings. They lost to them in 1989 as well.

Re: Mike Evans will probably never be first-team All-Pro

I understand Robert ... Johnston+Johnston had talent, with good size/speed ratio and lived up to their lofty draft status but while Calvin had a shorter career, Andre was handicapped by average QBs. Were they really that much better than the receivers still waiting for Canton? Just a matter of opini...

Re: The most 'boring' Super Bowl ever, IYO?

It's easy to list blowouts but most had big/exciting plays by one particular team that fans will always watch or remember. Other than Riggins and Fulton Walker for Miami, the 1982/83 SB was pretty boring despite being a close game. The Dolphins couldn't do anything in the second half and we're only ...

Re: Mike Evans will probably never be first-team All-Pro

That's the problem with modern receivers, who really stands out? Was Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson really that much better than Holt, Wayne, Boldin, Smith or Ward? Then there is Antonio Brown, who became a great player before hits to the head and larger contracts affected his play. Some voters see...

Re: Mike Evans will probably never be first-team All-Pro

Evans is a compiler ... of TDs. Doesn't matter if it's from Brady, Winston, Fitzpatrick, Glennon or McCown, counting postseason, he is averaging 10 TDs a season. If he can stay healthy and get beyond 125, he will make the HOF ... Being a big receiver, his career is similar to Cris Carter, without th...

Re: Dallas VS San Diego, SBXIV (1979)

Some people believe the 79 Chargers simply overlooked the Oilers in the playoffs, especially without Campbell but the Oilers were tougher than the Chargers and had a great gameplan*... or knew the Chargers offensive signals, etc? Either way, from wk 9 in 1978 till the disappointing loss to Houston i...

Re: Dallas VS San Diego, SBXIV (1979)

A tall order for the Cowboys. Even had Danny White gotten by the Rams(had he replaced the concussed Staubach)a tough game possibly against TB before the Chargers. Could the Chargers had beaten the Steelers again? Home-field would have helped but the Steelers had the big-game experience. I feel Staub...

Re: '84 Broncos discussion

Elway, like his hero, Roger Staubach, wanted the ball at the end of the game. If special teams, or the defense could keep them in it, he felt he could convince everyone they could pull the game out. If a team could move easily on them and score points, he wasn't the type to lead a huge comeback, tho...
