Re: Early CFB info
This might be one of those situations which require searching the university libraries for team photos with names on them or old game programs or even student newspapers. That doesn’t help, I know, if you need info for a wide swath of teams.

Re: ’60s Browns-vs-Cardinals discussion
In the attached article, perhaps a little sarcasm in the quotes from Blanton Collier and Charley Johnson.

Re: unique final plays
I thought it was the right call too as Tate's left shin appeared to be down for a fraction of a second and he was being touched by a Falcon while in possession of the ball, which was not yet on the white If it was ruled a TD on the field it may have stood. But that left shin looked down As a fan I ...

Re: unique final plays
The most unique final play in recent history I can remember is the final play of the Falcons-Lions game in 2017 when the referees ruled that Golden Tate was down before he reached the end zone. The Lions then challenged the call, but because no indisputable evidence was found to overturn the call on...

Nicknames for current players
I always love it when I come across a nickname for a player or group of players, especially when that nickname has become part of the sports-writing world's lexicon. Does it seem like we're hearing fewer and fewer nicknames nowadays on television broadcasts? I'm fortunate to have Paul Allen on local...

I’m interested to see if the league might institute the CFL rule of keeping the defensive line a full ya...

Re: When did the NFL peak for you?
My waning passion for the modern game has been a slow progression coupled with increased coverage, weeklong schedules, and the advancement of technology. My interest peaked in the 1980s when you could only watch three games a week because of the broadcast schedule. My weekly indulgence was Inside th...

Best resources for viewing game film
What are the best resources for viewing game film when doing research? Yes, there is quite a bit on YouTube, but it's hard to dig things up and get past the noise, and not everything is there, of course. Are there any best practices for accessing old game film? Does NFL Films offer some sort of rese...

2004 Vikings
Daunte Culpepper - 4,717 yards
At the time, I think that was the fifth-best all-time for a QB on a season.
