Re: Kirk Cousins (R.I.P. Vikings career?) - How did he do?
As for the Vikings, they would probably bring Cousins back unless they could trade up to get who they want in the draft or free agency, but we will see. Dobbs fumbled alot but has potential, while Mullens/Hall went 1-4 as starters. Will those three get another chance? I predict Cousins will come ba...

Re: The five "best" books about pro football history
I would argue that Pigskin: The Early Years of Pro Football by Robert W. Peterson might be a good replacement for Christl's team-specific Packers book. Also, I have run into multiple errors related to the Minneapolis Marines and the Rock Island Independents in a couple of chapters in The Sunday Game...

Re: What happened to Pro Football Archives?
Didn't know it was gone. What a loss. They had things Pro Football Reference didn't. And things Pro Football Database didn't. Hope it is temporary ... it was extremely useful. I agree. It had CFL, WFL, USFL, NFL Europe and even 60's minor league stats. It was one of my favorite research tools. I ho...

Re: What happened to Pro Football Archives?
Yes, I have permanently shut down the Pro Football Archives website. Thank goodness I consulted it before working on my next book! It was very useful for chasing down news articles related to non-NFL and pre-NFL games and schedules. I cited the site many, many times for my latest book. There was a ...

Kirk Cousins (R.I.P. Vikings career?) - How did he do?
With Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins out with a season-ending injury, it's likely he will never play again for the Purple and Gold. How will he rate in the Minnesota Vikings history books? 3rd total yards (23,265). He was on pace to surpass Tommy Kramer in this category this season. 3rd t...

Re: Chicago A.A. Question (1891? - 1898?)
Whenever I see talk about these early Chicago teams, I always think about organized crime, and I'm always drawn to whether a neighborhood boss or gambling crime ring had anything to do with a change in the status of a football team. My example is from much later, in the early 1920s, when the Titus H...

Re: "Virtual" chapter of the PFRA
A virtual PFRA chapter COULD include any football fan with access to the internet from anywhere. The PFRA chapters in Buffalo and Philly do that now. They welcome visitors from elsewhere, they just don't get many. Of course, any chapter would welcome outsiders and potential members to gatherings, b...

Re: "Virtual" chapter of the PFRA
The definition of a chapter in the PFRA is a sub-organization of the PFRA that serves people in a specific geographic area. Where did you get the definition? The only chapters the PFRA has or has had have been chapters that serve people in a specific geographic area. SABR chapters follow the same m...
