Re: Sporting News Top 10 HOF snubs
Thanks Reaser. What does it take for a HOVG candidate to be considered by the committee? Does the player have to be on a certain number/percentage of ballots?

Re: Sporting News Top 10 HOF snubs
I didn't know about the five year rule, that basically eliminates Spec Sanders. The other player on my list that was mentioned in follow up posts was Latone. He's not in the HOVG either. I don't think anyone is going to find film of him - I'd love to see that. The Coffin Corner article about all-pro...

Re: Sporting News Top 10 HOF snubs
Thanks Ken. Great site! I'm going to spend some more time on it. Looks like you have Spec as a solid Hall of Very Good player. I was surprised to see him as a One-Way player. Did the AAFC have free substitution from the beginning? The other interesting thing I recall about his career is I think he h...

Re: Sporting News Top 10 HOF snubs
Was there really film study on Sanders? Does footage exist of the big 1400 yard year he had in the AAFC? Can I get a link to Ken's site? I'll google in the meantime.... Thanks.

Re: "The Forgotten Four".....
Neal - awesome post - everything you said makes sense to me. For what it’s worth, I think you’ll see Slater and not Washington among the top 10 “HOF snubs” in a different thread. Kenny Washington got excluded from playing during his prime (unless you count the PCFL) which is very sad, but I don’t th...

Re: "The Forgotten Four".....
Neal, I loved reading all you've written on this on your site. Great work. To play devil's advocate - this reminds me a little of the "who discovered America" argument. The black players in the early days of the NFL weren't in the large markets until we started seeing small market teams fo...

Re: "The Forgotten Four".....
Can someone give me some background on this show/documentary? I googled it and it says its from "Epix"? Did they mention the connection between Branch Rickey playing football with Charles Follis? I'm guessing they mentioned the Kenny Washington/Jackie Robinson college teammate connection. ...

I came across this recently: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VM ... TF8&btkr=1. I'm not sure if it will help directly, but from the free sample available, it looks well written.

Re: Best team of the '40s (and PF that decade in-general)
I’m not sure how much this plays into who had the best team of the decade, but does anyone know when the unlimited substitution rule was put into effect? Comparing a team that basically went with 11 players with a team that was more specialized is a tough comparison and I think the 40s is the decade...
