Is there a good book that covers the 1940's NFL?

Is there a good book that covers the 1940's NFL? I feel like this is sort of a forgotten decade.

Re: Is there a good book on the anthracite league of the 192

Breaker Boys. The book on the 1925 Pottsville Maroons touches on the Anthracite League. But it isn't really about the Anthracite League per se. Thank you. I looked around and it seems like it's the one book. I decided to purchase it right away after I read this: https://www.espn.com/espn/page2/stor...

Is there a good book on the anthracite league of the 1920's

I've been reading "Fritz Pollard: Pioneer in Racial Advancement" by John Carroll and I just finished the chapter where Fritz Pollard played in the coal/anthracite league in 1923 and 1924. I found the league and the towns that participated fascinating. Are there any good books on this parti...

Re: PRFA in the news ...

The Packers are such a storied franchise that many great players still cant get the recognition that they deserve, whether HOVG or HOF ... Look at the receivers alone ... Dilweg, Howton and Sharpe deserve the HOF in my opinion but Dowler, Dale, McGee, Driver and Adams(later) have cases as well if n...

Anybody read "The Life and Times of Tony Canadeo"?

Anybody ever ever read "In search of a hero: The Life and Times of Tony Canadeo, Green Bay Packers Grey Ghost" by David Zimmerman. Was it any good? I can't find any comments or reviews of it on the internet.

Is this book worthy of reading?

I'm looking for thoughts on Larry Names book "The Shameful Years - The History of the Green Bay Packers". Since it's really the only book written about the 1950's Packers other than Cliff Christl's work I'm thinking of getting it. I'm aware he has drawn criticism from Cliff Christl on the ...

Re: Best Biography/Auto-Biography football books out there

"Passing Game - Benny Friedman and the transformation of Football" by Murray Greenberg I liked the Friedman/Greenberg book - it was well done. Sorry to hear about the Pollard bio. That's crazy! I looked up my Amazon order and I paid $17.44 in 2018. Keep an eye on Abe Books and eBay too. I...
