The HOF lists Sep 17, 1920 as the birth of the NFL but many online sources say Aug 20, 1920 instead. Is there a definitive answer?

Aug 20 is the date when the Canton Bulldogs, Akron Pros, Cleveland Bulldogs, and Dayton Triangles formed the American Professional Football Conference. Sep 17 is the date of the famous meeting in Ralph Hays' Hupmobile showroom when teams from outside Ohio agreed to join the league and the name became the American Professional Football Association.

Slightly changing the subject.... Did anything become of the rumor I thought I heard of a regular season game being played in Tom Benson/Fawcett Stadium (whatever its called these days) on Thursday 9/17/2020?
