The Vikings and Tampa Bay will play each other this preseason. This will the be first time they have met in the pre-season. The only other team the Vikings have not played in the pre-season is Green Bay. Anyone know about other teams that have never played against each other in the pre-season.

From 1953(?) to 1975, the Browns and 49ers played each other (almost always in SF) in exhibitions every year. Since then? Nothing.

During that earlier time period, they combined that trip with a game in the Coliseum against the Rams, but have played them a number of times after that.

Fairly obvious reason for this, but the Texans have never played against the Titans, Colts or Jaguars in the preseason....

what is interesting is the Vikings and Bears have played 3 times in the pre season since 1970.

Similarly for the Broncos and Seahawks when both were in the AFC West. They actually played against eachother 4 times one year counting preseason, regular season and postseason.

Also interesting that the Seahawks preseason 'rivals' were the 49ers every year - sometimes twice - until Seattle went back to the NFC.

The Chargers and Oilers set a record during the calendar year of 1961 that will presumably never be broken, facing each other six times:

*They played each other in the first AFL title game on New Year's Day 1961.
*They played each other in two exhibition games.
*They played each other twice in the 1961 regular season.
*They played each other in the 1961 AFL title game on 12/24.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Steelers played the Seahawks in preseason and this year they're playing the Jaguars for the first time.

The Redskins have never played the Cowboys, the Seahawks, nor the Texans in the preseason. I think they have played everyone else.

The Bears and Falcons have never played each other.

The Bears and Lions have only ever played one pre-season game, in 1958 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

The only teams the Cowboys never met in the preseason are the Redskins and Eagles.

The Saints have faced off against all current franchises except for the Panthers.

The three current franchises the Cardinals have yet to play in the preseason are the Ravens, Panthers and Jaguars.

The Jets have played against all current franchises in preseason action except for the Seahawks.
