I'm reminded of how he basically built the bulk of the Broncos soon-powerhouse lineup in his five seasons with the team--only to get bounced because of a player mutiny. Red Miller was the beneficiary.

It was during his final year there where he (the former Stanford coach) ran the score up on the hapless expansion Bucs, causing John McKay (the former USC coach) to utter this memorable (and censored) line: "Ralston's a p**ck and has always been one."

Technically not an NFL death since he never took a snap in an official league game, but former Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead was found dead on Saturday at the age of 32. He was cut by Tampa Bay after going undrafted, after having ignored a suggestion to stay in school another year:

Tommy Brooker kicked the game-winning field goal for the Dallas Texans 20-17 win over the Houston Oilers in the 1962 AFL Championship game. It came in the second overtime.
