Voting for Lavie Dilweg got me on the mailing list and I noticed this post:

It reminded me of the PFI list which I think has a number of players who if not HOF worthy at least should get a look for HOVG although in some cases my nomination didn't help:

Finally, BACHSLUNCH, I liked your reply mentioning the film study. If you're reading this, is it possible Emerson's career was about average for the 30s?

Has anyone ever looked at average career length by era? Intuitively, I would think careers were shorter in the early years, but I don't have data to back it up.

I did look at Dan Fortmann and Emerson using PFR and they both actually played 86 games.

A few guys that come to mind who played 5-7 years from way back, who are in the HOVG... Spec Sanders, Cecil Isbell, Glenn Presnell.
