Re: Who is your team?

That's a good question. Probably the 60s Browns, then the Patriots from 70s onward if we're getting technical. But after watching the 1984 Red Sox give away the World Series, I vowed to not be a die-hard fan of any team in any sport (much as I love MLB and Pro Football). Nowadays, I wish what would...

Re: Class of 2020 Centennial Hall of Fame Finalists

Re Mike Stratton and the HotVG: Grantham and Fortunato were only very recently inducted into that Hall. My guess is that Stratton will make it in during the next few years. There are several players who seem qualified but haven’t made it in yet. Stratton is one of several such folks. Elected into t...

Re: FInal 15

As to who the final five might be, that’s becoming more of a crapshoot. Definitely think Polamalu, James, at least one other safety (probably Atwater), and at least one OL (probably Faneca since he has been waiting longest) get elected for sure. How strongly the voters feel about Sam Mills will be i...

Re: FInal 15

Agreed, it’s a fine list. All are deserving, no major quibbles. A little surprised Patrick Willis didn’t make it, but the other two LBs have been waiting a while. His short career is obviously an issue. The three biggest surprises for me are Sam Mills and Bryant Young, plus Reggie Wayne being a firs...

Re: Class of 2020 Centennial Hall of Fame Finalists

Bill Forester deserves a mention at OLB for the 1960s team. He only played four seasons in the decade but he earned a lot of honors in those four seasons. He's another good example, like Jim Ray Smith and Jimmy Patton, of a guy whose career is divided between two decades and thus missed out on all-...

Re: Class of 2020 Centennial Hall of Fame Finalists

Really enjoying this LB discussion re the 60s All-Decade Team. John, really like your choices for this team, and very much agree with them. Despite his light honors profile (3/3/60s), I’ve heard nothing but good things about Dave Robinson in film study. Had they picked a team that wasn’t so heavy on...

Re: Pete Carroll

It seems like only yesterday Pete Carroll was slinking back to the college ranks after bombing as an NFL coach. Took a fresh look at his career, and was surprised what it looked like. In fact, he’s not all that far off being the equal of HoFer Tony Dungy: Dungy: 139-69-0. One SB win. Carroll: 133-89...

Re: Finalists for Hall of Fame's centennial class revealed

Rupert, good observations, and agreed.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tom Flores gets one of these slots. I see him as the least qualified of the candidates, but it may not matter.
