Re: Aaron Donald Retires

Absolute first ballot HOF'er and a dominant force. His ability to shed a tackle and just appear out of a mass of bodies at the line and rocket towards a QB was something else.

He could go from being engaged in a block to engulfing a QB 7 yards away in seemingly less than half a second.

Re: 1995 Patriots- What went wrong?

The defense wasn't great in 1994, but they finished 12th in points allowed and 18th in total yards. The next year, they dropped to 25th in points and 28th in yards allowed. One reason for this may have been turnover on the DL. In 1994, they had 12-year vet Mike Pitts and former Cardinal Mike Jones ...

Re: Kirk Cousins (R.I.P. Vikings career?) - How did he do?

With Cousins now going to the Falcons, the Vikings have their chance to develop someone from the draft but who will they go after? Well, we got our answer yesterday with the signing of Sam Darnold to the Vikings. They signed him to a one-year, $10 million contract, which I'm told is the cap-percent...

Re: 1992 Philadelphia Eagles discussion

Kotite in 1992 wasn't quite yet the total burnout he would be when he joined the Jets in 1995 (leaving his own teams practice early to beat traffic) Walker in 1992 was about 30 which was a scary number for running backs in the NFL historically, so it was quite an achievement for him to hit 1,000 eve...

Re: 1990's Chiefs

Like I detailed in another post awhile back, these were the quarterbacks for teams that beat Martyball in the postseason ... Marino -- 1985, 90, 94 Elway -- 1986, 87, 97 Moon -- 1988 Kelly -- 1991, 93 Brady -- 2006 All in the HOF but he also lost to QBs, Humphries, Harbaugh and Pennington who had g...

Re: 1990's Chiefs

Had Mahomes never came along, people would have said the same things about Reid, that Marty went through, though Reid at least won an NFC Championship with McNabb. Other than Montana, Marty's best QB was probably Rivers but thanks to Troy Brown stripping McCree of an interception that should have e...

Re: 2023/24 Super Bowl

Chiefs really are like the new Patriots...though for me a lot more tolerable. The Taylor Swift stuff, I really couldn't be more indifferent about her. Of course the NFL welcomes her army of followers and the $ they bring with them (most of it being dads money of course  the league already m...

Re: 2023/24 Super Bowl

Here's my dream match-up for SB 59, now that the media has already decided on the 3-peat story line..... The Detroit Lions, finally making their first-ever SB appearance, vs the Chiefs, looking to be the first to win 3 straight SB. Might not even need a romance angle. I still find it odd that only ...

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Games

From the perspective of this dinosaur, analytics is usurping common sense in sports. That's why Campbell went for it on those two 4th downs instead of attempting the FG. Among other things analytics has given us are entire lineups filled with guys hitting 18 home runs with 156 K. I gave up on baseb...

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Games

I was not a fan of Campbell's 4th down decisions there nor the "well that's how he's done it all year" rationale. It's about playing smart, sound, situational football. In that spot I am trying both field goals. If he makes that first one and that game goes back to being a 3 score affair.....
