First A-A player in NFL playoff game

The chatter about Doug Williams in another thread got me thinking. Who is the first African American player to appear in an NFL playoff game?

Is it one of / a few of the Rams on the opening kickoff against the Bears in 1950?

Thank you!

Dexter Bussey

I was listening to a podcast discussing the amount of backfield talent at the University of Oklahoma when Chuck Fairbanks was the Sooner coach. It said there were six players who gained over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in one season in the NFL. I think they are Steve Owens, Joe Washington, Dexter Bus...

Re: 2024 Obituaries

I do not believe this gentleman played professional football in the United States, but it was not for lack of trying. It seems like he tried out for many teams in different leagues multiple times during the 1960's. He must have really enjoyed playing but met with better success as an actor. Anyone w...

Re: 1991 Giants had Parcells and all staff had returned at least one more year?

[quote1. Is there anything in particular about the Redskins in that stretch that didn’t match up well against the Giants?][/quote] I think I read somewhere the Giants picked up on Redskins WR Ricky Sanders would put his mouthpiece in on a running play. The Giants also had a lot of tough customers on...

Re: 2024 Obituaries

Former NY Jet and USFL running back Kevin Long passed away at 69 years old on Tuesday. He was a member of a committee of hard running Jet running backs in the late 1970s / early 1980’s - Clark Gaines, Scott Dierking, Long, Bruce Harper.

Re: Giants doing top 100 players ... have released 91-100

Looks like the final ten are: 10. Andy Robustelli 9. Sam Huff 8. Eli Manning 7. Harry Carson 6. Emlen Tunnell 5. Michael Strahan 4. Frank Gifford 3. Mel Hein 2. Roosevelt Brown 1. Lawrence Taylor Just my opinion, Eli Manning seems a little too high, should maybe be 11-12. Emlen Tunnell seems a tick ...

New Orleans Saints and NASA 1972-76

I was listening to a quality podcast Michael MacCambridge was on where he noted Saints owner John Mecom, Jr. hired an astronaut with zero football experience to run the Saints football operation from 1972 to 1976. I looked it up and yep, Richard Gordon was the astronaut. I think John Mecom, Jr. is 8...

I am curious - where do folks think John Cannady should be ranked? I never saw him play and do not know much about him.

Thank you.
