Re: Joe Namath and the AFL's Spalding Ball

If you collect old Super Bowl programs, open up your copy of the SB III program; inside is an article entitled "F1100 vs. J5-V". The title makes it sound like it's about a dogfight between jet fighters, but its actually a comparison of the NFL's "The Duke" football and the AFL fo...

Re: Super Bowl X end of game question

Is it just me or have the Steelers always had special teams issues? Well, in Super Bowl XIII, it was the Cowboys who screwed up by having Randy White on the kickoff return team. His injured hand was in a cast. When the Steelers squibbed a kickoff, Randy recovered it, and rather than fall down with ...

1961 All Rookie Team

This newspaper article lists the 1961 All Rookie Team: https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1499&dat=19611201&id=FTwaAAAAIBAJ&sjid=NycEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5353,378649&hl=es The article doesn't say whose "team" this is (i.e., AP, UPI, PFWA, etc.). Does anyone know? Did the NFL...

Re: Unfairness in the replay rule?

I don't recall the guy's name, but in FOX's broadcast of the Cowboys-Giants game last weekend, a replay showed that Cowboys RB Darren McFadden caught a screen pass behind the line of scrimmage. He went on to score an apparent TD but it was called back for offensive pass interference (a Cowboy WR was...

Re: Rozelle's AFL game ball

This webpage shows a 1966 AFL football with Al Davis's signature. Since 1966 was his only year as AFL Commissioner, his signature is a pretty good indication that the ball is indeed from 1966. I have no idea if 1967-68-69 balls were signed by Pete Rozelle. http://www.bst-auctions.com/ItemImages/0000...

Re: 2015 Obituaries

I guess the report that Dennis Morgan died at a NYG game was correct:

Re: 2015 Obituaries

Dennis Morgan, who played for the Dallas Cowboys (1974) and Philadelphia Eagles (1975) died on October 25, 2015 (according to wikipedia, he died at a New York Giants game, but provides no reference).
