Re: Were 10-6 49ers of '91 as good as record indicated?
I don't think the 49ers were as good as their record in 91, but that was true in several other 90's seasons as well, like 1990, 92, 93, 94, 96, 97, and 98. Those teams have more flaws than people give them credit for because people were brainwashed by the 9er-loving media that their players were th...

Michael Strahan- Did he only make the HOF because of his storybook ending?
IMHO, He was the Joe Namath of defensive players- only made the HOF because he played in NY, had one gaudy outlier of a season (Namath's 4000 yard season, Strahan's sack record) and had an all time SB upset. If they lose to DAL/GB or even that SB and he retires without a ring.... are we sure he's in...

2002 Bucs
No more GB/CHI cold weather trips, new division, got to play ATL/CAR/NO, won SB in year 1 of said realignment

Re: 1994 Steelers vs. 1997 Steelers
The 94 Steelers were better. The 1997 team shouldn't have even made the playoffs. They had a few games they should have lost, like Washington, @Baltimore, @Arizona, and @NE. Den and KC were the two best teams in the AFC that year, and that was the defacto AFC Title Game. Oh please. 97 KC was a frau...

Re: What's the biggest football moment you witnessed in person?
I saw Matt Hasselbeck throw a TD off a fake FG during a Packers/Vikings MNF game in 1999

The 6 Losses of the 1991 SF 49ers
The 91 49ers have been rhapsodized as the best team to ever miss the playoffs, how they turned a 3-6 start into 7 straight wins. But rather than dig into the hot finish, I want to look at their 6 losses (by a combined 26 points). Week 1 at NY- NFC CG rematch, Young vs Hostetler. Got beat yet again b...

Re: Best Teams To Miss The Playoffs
The 67' Colts were the top team, but the 77' Bengals just missed as well. After whipping the Steelers, they had the division if they could beat the Oilers the final weekend but Houston got to Anderson with their pass rush that day and won, giving Phillips another winning season. Not as good as the ...

Best Teams To Miss The Playoffs
NFL Throwback's video on the best teams to miss the playoffs got me wondering about any that should be added: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcxE_gDZmr8 2008 Patriots 2012 Bears 1986 Vikings 1986 Seahawks 2004 Bills 1991 Eagles 1978 Chargers 2010 Chargers 1984 Cardinals 2005 Chiefs 1975 Dolphins 19...

Re: Eagles at Falcons NFCCG, 1980
Atlanta had their number back then. Not just the 1978 playoff game and December 1980, but don't forget week 2 of 1979 when ATL won at the Vet on a MNF. As for a hypothetical SB..... I don't think Leeman Bennett would have had ATL as uptight ala Vermeil. Bartkowski couldn't have fared any worse than ...
