Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
The 1984 49ers IMHO are the most overrated team in NFL history ... But worst of all was their attitude- they seemed emotionless, played with no joy, came off as robots. They somehow made an 18-1 season seem as exciting as a tax return. There’s a reason why the 85 Bears had the same record and becam...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
Haha ... I thought I liked stirring the pot! CS might have me beat ... bad opponents or not, the Niners were the first team to win 15 games in a regular season and still won it all, shutting out Da Bears and making Marino run for his life. If any 15-1 team is overrated it's the 2011 Packers, who fe...

1984 49ers = Overrated
The 1984 49ers IMHO are the most overrated team in NFL history People talk about the 72 Dolphins easy schedule. Look at the 84 49ers and THEIR schedule. I mean, half of their wins came against teams with .500 or worse records. Awful AFC Central, worst Saints/Falcons pairing of that era, mediocre Eag...

Re: Were 10-6 49ers of '91 as good as record indicated?
I saw them as an unlucky playoff team that was left out in the cold and better than their record indicated The last 6 games of the season they were second only to the Redskins as the best team in football They were not unlucky- they got what they deserved. they had a lot of red flags that get overs...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
What if the Bears don’t win 1977’s Slush Bowl and miss the playoffs? Washington instead would have played LA in the Mud Bowl I actually can see the Redskins pulling off the upset that year in LA before falling in Dallas. I don’t. LA’s Viking jinx was real and they had already beaten Washington in t...

What if the Bills got the #1 seed instead of Cincinnati?
How differently could a defense driven pre-no Huddle Bills fare in SB 23 against a SF team that at one point started 6-5?

Worst draft classes for a team
We all know about perhaps the best draft class ever- 1974 Steelers getting Swann/Stallworth/Lambert/Webster.
But what were opposites? Teams that basically had a draft class that was anything but the stuff of greatness.

1989
They played a much tougher schedule in a more rugged NFC.
The 84 49ers basically only faced 2 decent QB's, Theismann and Simms, until SB 19.
