Re: Best post-'77 defensive games

I would vote for the two 9-5 scores in NFL history;

- Dallas at Washington, 1978, on a Monday Night
- Indianapolis at N.Y. Jets (although there was rain), 1984

Re: Tom Owen

Other similar QB I just remember is Chris Weinke, who was the starter in most of his rookie year in Carolina's 1-15 season, then he became a backup for seven years with the Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers.

Tom Owen

Looking at the 1981 New England Patriots, I was surprised to see that QB Tom Owen started the last game and threw a touchdown pass that season. His 10-year career is interesting. As a 13th-round Draft choice in 1974 with the San Francisco 49ers, Owen started half the 49ers games in his rookie year. ...

Re: Were '92 Seahawks 'best' 2-14 team ever?

Other team I recall it was mentioned was the 1981 New England Patriots. Although they lost their first and last games of the season to the Baltimore Colts (who also finished 2-14, I wonder if that's the only time in NFL history where two teams from the same division finished last). Their offense was...

Re: Were '92 Seahawks 'best' 2-14 team ever?

Their offense was awful, they scored 10 or less points in ten of their sixteen games, and never scored more than 17 points in a game. Cortez Kennedy had IMO one of the most dominating season by a defensive player in NFL history.

Re: 2015 Obituaries

John Barrow, a OT/DT who played 14 seasons (1957-1970) with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, died on Tuesday Febryary 17th. He was 79 years old. Barrow was considered the top offensive lineman in the history of the CFL at the time of his retirment and was inducted into the Ca...

Re: The Draft Combine Is Dumb

I think is important to meet the future professional players in person. I know that in the 50s or 60s they used the Street&Smith's magazine or newspapers to review players, but one would think that by the 70s all teams should know everything about the players they would draft. But I remember tha...

Re: Retired Numbers

Well, there are three numbered officials since the introduction of the side judge in 1978. John Madden always criticzided that, he said that three numbered referees didn't commanded respect.

Re: The Draft Combine Is Dumb

I wonder the score of former DE Dexter Manley. At 30 years old, he couldn't read or write, and he hanged for 4 years at Oklahoma State.

Re: The Draft Combine Is Dumb

I remember that former Bengals P/WR Pat McInally was the only player who got a perfect score on the Wonderlic Test (of course, McInally attended Harvard).
