Re: Worst draft classes for a team
To cite one example, the Packers in 1944 drafted 30 (!!!) players, only one of whom even made the team. The "prize" of that draft class was Alex Agase, who played six seasons -- for four teams other than Green Bay. Offhand I wonder how many of those 30 draft picks didn't play because they...

Re: Michael Strahan- Did he only make the HOF because of his storybook ending?
Certainly playing in NYC doesn't hurt an athlete's chances for making the HOF in any sport. Being personable and media savvy can't hurt either. But all this increases a guy's chances only a tiny bit, though that sometimes can be enough to make the difference for someone who's straddling the fence. P...

Re: What's the biggest football moment you witnessed in person?
I haven't been to very many myself, but in retrospect a couple stand out: * Oct. 24, 1971---Saw ChucK Hughes die on the field at Tiger Stadium. My girlfriend (future wife) and I got free tix from my brother, who had just won them in an all-nite poker game. I remember what a wet, dreary day it was (a...

Apparently Hadl hurt his arm halfway through and the passing really fell off, * True, he hurt his back ... and it affected his throwing I read that John Hadl and some other Rams were pushing a car when Hadl hurt his back causing his performance to fall off considerably the second half of the 1973 s...

Re: Best Teams To Miss The Playoffs
The playoffs in the 1960's weren't what they are today but probably one of the best teams from any era to miss the post season was the 1967 Baltimore Colts. There aren't a lot of one-loss teams that didn't make it to the playoffs, especially with a league MVP (Unitas) at QB. https://www.pro-footbal...

I imagine his throwing hand would look like this.

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
I don't agree about the 73 Dolphins ... the expectations of defending a world championship is difficult for any team, especially since it was only done thrice since the end of the 1959 season when Baltimore and Green Bay did it--excluding the AFL*-- The Dolphins hammered the Bengals, Raiders and Vi...

Re: COFFIN CORNER VOLUME 46 NUMBER 1
Haven't had a chance to read the piece on electric football but I'm really looking forward to it. I got one of those games for Christmas back in '67 or '68, and I can remember lugging it several blocks in the snow to play it in my buddy's basement. Pretty sure the teams that came with the set were t...

I'm too lazy to do a Top 10 list. I'll do a Top 1 list:
Best: 1962 Packers
Worst: 1966 Giants
But man, I just looked up the Bucs' first 2 seasons. Forgot how truly terrible they were. They were shut out in 11 of their first 26 games. Brutal.
