Re: Looking At the Teams That Attempted to Threepeat
Paul Warfield believed had the Dolphins gotten by the Raiders, they would have beaten the Steelers in the Orange Bowl before beating Minn. I am doubtful, without Jake Scott. Injuries to running backs hurt these teams chances, especially SF, Pitts and Dallas, though E Smith played well before leaving...

Re: 1971 NFL season discussion
The Steelers could have had a winning season had they beaten the Bears and Dolphins, blowing good leads. One of the best losing seasons for any young team, with the experience they gained. Chuck Noll was disappointed they didn't do better. The Cowboys 1990 season reminded me of this one ...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
The Oilers couldn't win away from the dome. Cleveland's defense never had a pass rush to get to Elway. You can only cover receivers for so long. Warren Moon probably has the worst road winning pct as starter of any HOF QB ...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
Parcells played not to lose? Other than Simms-to-Bavaro in NY, his teams had no major weapons. They ran the ball with tough runners to give their defense enough rest to bury opponents. Won everywhere he went, putting out fires from terrible teams, including his own Giants from 1983. The Redskins coa...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
Haha ... we are all having some bragging rights fun and discussion on this forum and good debate is welcome for me. As for the Broncos, if they are considered an average, multiple AFC Champion, then Dan Reeves should be in the HOF. Elway should be considered the greatest QB of all time. I think he i...

Re: CHOG concept
Joe Ferguson with Buffalo actually had a .500 starting record until the Bills disastrous 1984 season. Good enough to win games but not clutch enough in postseason.

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
The Cowboys won in spite of Johnson? I don't think so ... he put the fear of God into his players and they responded. Aikman felt the team was too lax under Switzer and Gailey. Johnson could get away with gambles and hunches better than any HC today. Too bad he couldn't get the same results with the...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
You can't be an AFC Champion being average to weak. The teams simply didn't have the depth or coaching that the NFC had. Far better offensive lines than the AFC, though the Niners line wasn't dominate, which makes their offensive prowess even more impressive.

Jethro Pugh or Jon Kolb could have been perfect examples had theyre teams not been so successful
